An after-school program, serving children ages six to fifteen and their families.

The Footprints Program is a community-wide program serving children and their families experiencing grief and loss.

We provide a safe, caring environment where children can learn to identify and cope with emotions. Most importantly, our goal is for children to complete the program, understanding I am not alone in my grief. They see that others are experiencing the same kind of grief and the same emotions.

Program Mission

The mission of Footprints is to serve children dealing with grief in a faith-based environment that is safe and accepting of all emotions, and to help the child understand and begin to deal with the emotions regarding their loss.

Volunteering with Footprints

Administrative Volunteers

Administrative Volunteers are needed to help with the many varied activities that are required to manage the Footprints operation. We will work with you to find a position that fits your to your interests, schedule, and availability.

Workshop Facilitators

Volunteers with a compassionate heart and an interest in helping children heal can be considered for the role of Workshop Facilitator. These volunteers assist with the grief processing workshops. Workshop Facilitators must be able to commit to an entire eight-week session.

Children ages 6-10, and 11-15, who are experiencing grief as a result of a loss due to the death of a loved one. Footprints provide an environment where grieving children can express their feelings and learn that they are not alone in dealing with the challenging circumstances life sometimes brings.

The program effectively places children in a peer support group with other children their age who have experienced loss. During the registration process, children are screened to help identify any need for professional assistance beyond what Footprints provides. In these cases, the family is referred to appropriate care.

All activities and sessions will be conducted in a group format led by three trained, non-related adult volunteers, with 6 to 8 children per group. All staff volunteers and facilitators are trained in the specifics of the activities and how to work with grieving children.

Activities and games are designed to help children understand their emotions and begin to process them. All activities and games are group-based, emphasizing the theme, “You are not alone“.

While the children’s sessions are conducted, parents/guardians attend a session of their own, where they are briefed on what to expect from the children following their session.

Getting the parents involved in the healing process is crucial to the child’s success.

Footprint is a program offered through Camp Agape, a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization that supports children and families who have lost a loved one.

The Footprints Team leads, trains, and equips volunteer facilitators to fulfill program roles.

The Footprints program consists of one-hour weekly sessions for eight weeks. All activities and sessions will be conducted in a group format led by three trained, non-related adult volunteers, with four to eight children per group.

Children are placed in peer support groups with other children of similar age. Mental health professionals design the activities and games the children participate in. They are proven in experience to help children understand their emotions and begin to deal with them. All the  activities and games are group-based and emphasize “You are not alone.”

Parental involvement is key in the healing process and the child’s success. While the children’s sessions are being conducted, the parents or guardians meet separately with a facilitator trained to answer questions and provide insights.

All classes require a minimum of six participants, with a maximum of ten participants.
