A Fun and Relaxing Weekend of Healing for the Family
At Family Retreat, families can walk through the grief process together by engaging in side-by-side activities and individual therapeutic opportunities. We understand every situation is different, and we do our best to meet your family where you are in your grieving process. We hope to provide encouragement and the tools necessary for your family to grieve together.
History of Family Retreat
After 16 years of Camp Agape, we noticed that we were missing an essential part of the healing processâadults and other family members also experience grief. In 2017, Camp Agape adapted the camp curriculum to apply to the family unit while emphasizing faith and fun.

A Lifeline for Families Affected by the July 4, 2025 Flood
In response to the devastating flooding across our region, weâve increased availability for this yearâs retreat to serve more families directly impacted by loss. This retreat, held at Morganâs Camp near San Antonio, provides a free, therapeutic experience filled with hope, healing, and support. Families will engage in hands-on activities, guided therapy sessions, shared meals, and quiet moments of remembranceâall while surrounded by others who understand their pain.
Toddler care is available when needed.

What to expect at Family Retreat

Professional Speakers & Counselors
Leaders in grief, marriage, and family therapy assist families in their grief journey. These individuals have a heart for Camp Agape’s mission.

Activities
Walk hand in hand with your child(ren) throughout the weekend, creating crafts, singing camp songs, playing games, and making memories that will last a lifetime. Strengthen bonds while fishing, hiking, and through creative art projects. Learn therapeutic exercises to take home to help your family through your grief journey.

Childcare
During the weekend retreat, we encourage families to enjoy the outdoors and take time for themselves. For this reason, childcare is provided during the day for children under seven.

Adult Time
Many sessions throughout the retreat weekend are focused on helping parents process their grief.

Family Time
Family is the number one priority at Family Retreat. Every evening ends with family time for discussion, decompression, and bonding. Our goal is to allow for transparent communication and avoid feelings of homesickness by having family units sleep in the same cabin.

Community
At Camp Agapeâs Family Retreat, many individuals and families create lifelong friendships.
