2020 marks the 20th anniversary since the vision for Camp Agape began! A calling was put on my heart to create a healing place for little hurting hearts. The name “Camp Agape” was part of that vision because there is nothing more important than God’s unconditional love in our times of despair. The number 12 was also impressed on my heart at that time, which is why we serve children ages 7-12 through our grief support program. The first summer camp served just six children. Since then, we have served more than one thousand children and families with supportive care in their grief journeys.

Several years ago, we realized the importance of incorporating the entire family in the healing process and started offering family retreat weekends each fall. With the addition of annual family retreats, we can offer full circle healing for the entire family unit.

Our anniversary year ushers in many new and exciting changes for Camp Agape. In 2020 we are unveiling a new logo to represent expanded services, licensing program materials and therapy games for national distribution, and moving to a brand new and beautiful location. If our summer camp program is cancelled due to COVID-19, we have begun researching innovative alternatives, such as hosting a virtual camp and “tele-therapy” online sessions to provide supportive care to those in need. We maintain a positive outlook to find new ways to continue serving grieving families.

We look forward to celebrating 20 years of healing hurting hearts and we appreciate our donors and volunteers who make it possible to provide eternal healing through the Camp Agape grief recovery ministry.
